Amberlyn Living grew from a workshop in Tangerang Selatan — a place where teak, rattan and mindi wood are shaped into furniture meant to live quietly in real homes. We make fewer things, and we make them slowly.
We don't make furniture to be noticed. We make it to be lived with — pieces that soften with age, hold their shape for years, and get better in a room that already feels like home.
Started Amberlyn in a small workshop with three carpenters and a single bench. Today the workshop still sits in the same district of Tangerang Selatan — larger, but with the same philosophy of working one piece at a time, with the people who will eventually live with them.
Each piece is named for the wood it stands on. We don't mix materials to chase a price — we use the wood that suits the form, and we tell you which one it is.
Dense, oily, and naturally weather-resistant. Indonesian teak has been a furniture wood for centuries for one reason: it holds its shape. We use it for frames, tabletops, and outdoor pieces.
Light, breathable, surprisingly strong. Hand-wound over teak or mindi frames. We use it for storage baskets, headboards, lampshades, and the woven panels of our chairs.
Lighter than teak, with a fine grain that takes colour beautifully. We use mindi for study desks, dining chairs, and pieces that need to be moved often.
Our workshop sits on Jl. Parakan in Tangerang Selatan — a working space, not a showroom. Eleven craftspeople, two bench rooms, a finishing room, and a quiet corner where Dany reviews each piece before it leaves.
We make in small batches and finish by hand. A solid teak bed frame takes roughly three weeks from rough timber to oil finish; a hand-woven rattan headboard, around ten days. We don't take shortcuts, and we don't take rush orders on custom work.
Boards are chosen for grain, density, and the piece they're meant to become. We reject roughly a third of what arrives at the workshop.
Each component is cut and jointed by hand. Mortise-and-tenon for frames, dovetails for drawers, no visible screws where we can avoid them.
Frames are dry-fit, glued with marine-grade adhesive, and clamped for 48 hours. Rattan panels are woven against the assembled frame.
Two coats of natural oil, hand-rubbed. Each piece is reviewed by Dany before packing — nothing leaves the workshop without a final pass.
